Everyday we pick a few handfuls of tomatoes to eat with our lunch. These little beauty’s will get eaten in a couple days,we are just lovin all the different kinds. Tonight we will cut open our first melon, fingers crossed that it is as delicous as it smells.

Partialy full jars of herbs & tea mix.The weather is calling for sun for 2 weeks, so I think I will dry one more round of herbs & call it a done deal.

Last but not least I found these at the thrift 2 for a quarter!!! Really a quarter!!! I grabbed them so fast  I almost gave my self whip lash. They are currently looking a lot lovely in my kitchen, yay.

Today was spent gathering food.  A basket of pears,2 buckets of apples,1 bucket of hazelnuts,40lbs of peaches,40lbs potatoes & a wee basket of plums. All this food is piling up awaiting it’s true destiny in the form of preserves, sauce, jam & other to be  determined goodness!!

This pot of sauce below is a pear/apple mix,yum yum. I find that by mixing the two I end up with the perfect amount of sweetness.  This didn’t even put a dent in the buckets of pears & apples.

Well today is the first official day of the fire ban lift. Which means we can have a little fire here tonight………. so i’ll catch you fine folks tomorrow.

Well the weather is supposed to be sunny on Saturday but who knows, right? It has rained, sunned & clouded here today,we will keep our fingers crossed that sun shines upon us for Saturday. If it does rain then that means I have to clean my garage…OUCH!!! Not looking forward to that fiasco.  Anyways good people have no fear the sale will go on rain or shine, the gate will open at 9am. I’m off to make dinner for the small ones & I will see you ALL on saturday.

Really, that is embarssing!!! Definately not getting a car in that baby, hahahaha

More Goods

Some sewing has happened, woohoo. I whipped up these little clutches the other day in the wee hours of the morning. Super fun, except the one with plastic front. After many atempts & some profanity(2 hours later) I realized that using layers of tissue between the purse & machine was a good thing. So I ended up with ONE of those plastic fronted ones………enough said. I have  been making pillows one a day for a couple weeks now & these are 3 of favorites. Wishing you all a brilliant day!!!

Well the garage is loaded to the brim  with new goods for the august sale!!! I  am soooo excited, hopefully it will be a fun day & we’ll make some new friends out here on the farm.

It is raining here again which is perfect, cause today we’re making pickles.Yesterday I made jam & cran/gooseberry sauce for thanksgiving. The jam didn’t fully set so is a tad on the runny side. Oh well I know my guys will still devour every last drop. It’s like like canned sunshine.  Cheers till tomorrow

Well today we awoke to rain, glorious rain. It hasn’t rained here in a month & here on vancouver island that is a long time!!  Everything looks so fresh & vibrant when it rains. I managed to pop out & snap some photos in between showers which I thought i’d share with you.

I have never grown melons before but decided to give it a go. The season started out hot ,then quickly fizzled to rain which stunted these little guys. I planted them out once it got hot again not really expecting to much.  They took off, yesterdays count was twenty melons!!! woohoo!! lets just hope the rain doesn’t stick around to to long, Cause they like it hot hot. The dahlia’s are coming on strong too, this beauty is as big as my hand.  Heirloom tomatoe plants  are begining to show there bounty.

Sunny Day

Author: kiona

This morning I managed to get all my dahlia’s planted just before it started to rain, then I came in to enjoy a brekfast smoothie.

My hubby & I had a super time in Seattle this weekend. We parted ways on Saturday he off to a motocross thingy (which I had not the slightest desire to attend) & me off to wander in the city. I stumbled into quite a  few sweet  little shops and a handful of antique  spots too.  I came away with a few treasures  & a barrel of inspiration!!!! I can’t wait to get going on some projects here. This week I am focusing on the garden,so that next week will be free to creativity………
